The Wounded Healer
Criminologist Dr. Dan Philipp has devoted his career to treating sexual offenders. The intense encounter with evil has not shaken his belief in the basic humanity of even the worst criminals. “Our attitude towards sex offenders lacks compassion because we fear we resemble them,” he says. At 87, Dan travels to his native city of Aachen in Germany, to attend a memorial ceremony for Gisela, his first love. There, he must engage with the dark side of his own life.
