Synopsis

"Southern Wind on Hilton Beach" reveals the history of surfing in Israel. The film follows the creation of a Tel Aviv subculture, which turned its back on the Israeli nature and for a brief and special moment, became leading youth trend in Israel. The film describes how the surfers went from being outsiders fighting for their right to surf, to becoming the cultural heroes of the eighties. South Wind on Hilton Beach is a film on culture, success and failure through surfing. It depicts a unique way of life. It is a film about being Israeli, and trying to escape from it.
