Synopsis

When teenage Livi begins dating a charming young man, her world gradually shrinks until only they exist, isolated by menacing dogs at their door and severed from family and friends. Though he never raises a hand, terror paralyzes her: she knows that leaving him will bring something terrible.

The documentary chronicles Livi’s journey through eight stages that precede intimate partner murder, a chilling timeline drawn from Prof. Monckton Smith’s research of hundreds of real cases that show how love can become captivity. Through interviews with those who witnessed her transformation, the film illuminates the gray zone of psychological abuse in relationships where the first physical blow is also the last.
