Dimona Twist
Synopsis
Seven women arrive in Israel in the 1950s and 1960s and are sent straight to
Dimona, a new town in the middle of the desert. Their life stories have never been
told before from their perspectives. They open up now and talk about the pain of
leaving their homes in North Africa and Poland, the difficulties of adjusting in their new homeland and their determined attempts to create rich and meaningful lives.

Reviews
-
"Aviad successfully conveys the incredible fortitude of these women in the early stages of the State of Israel. Her documentary captures the tragedy, fear, and, ultimately, the hope that allowed them to create the lives they desired."
- Batya H. Carl, Kol HaBirah
-
"From its memorialization of the struggle of immigrants and refugees, representation of Jews of color, complicated portrayal of the relationship between Jews and Arabs, and profoundly feminist subjects, these stories of Dimona feel perfectly relevant in 2017. "
- Mitali Desai, Jewish Women's Archive
